Negative experience: Beware this 'driving academy' as they are more concerned with selling you 'driving simulator' sessions on a computer than getting you behind the wheel of an actual vehicle. I recommend AA driving school.

Fantastic experience: Started as a beginner driver with very little ability and turned into a confident driver and passed my test with no errors and 100% all thanks to excellence academy’s patience and friendly teaching.

Fantastic experience: My step-son failed his first restricted test (with another Driver Training company); he nearly had an accident when doing a right turn when crossing a busy highway. The challenges he had to overcome were (1) how to deal with the pressures of gap selection and not holding-up traffic when at a busy cross-road; (2) how to deal with the anxiety and post-traumatic stress that comes with having had a previous bad experience; (3) how to deal with the self-doubt and fear of failing again. Many driving schools around the country have very good instructors. But not all instructors are able to teach. They will give directions on how to drive. Tony Green is truly unique and has a unique teaching style. He is one of the best teachers I have met and observed. He makes every effort to understand his student's needs, and ensure they are confident. I like how he will get the student out of the car to analyse traffic flow at the roadside of a busy intersection in explaining the decision-making process with gap selection and how to safely cross a busy intersection. This is just one example. As a result of Tony's expert tuition my step-son overcame his self-doubt, fear and anxiety today. He faced the fear-inducing intersection and safely made it across. He passed his restricted driver's licence. Thanks Tony. We can't express our gratitude enough for your patience, calm manner, encouragement and passion for teaching safe driving. You are more than just a great teacher. Palmerston North and Christchurch are very lucky to have you. I would highly recommend Excellence Driving Academy. You won't be disappointed!

Fantastic experience: I went to excellence very nervous but they improved my confidence on the road, and in ten lessons was able to pass my restricted license. You may think “what a simulation test na that’s not real driving” let me tell ya that simulator is such a good idea your able to be put into any situation you can think of, this is great cause it’s not always gonna be busy or raining or sunny in real life, but it can I’m the simulator without having to go on a real road, and it feels just like real thing, all of the instructors are awesome people very friendly and very fun to just talk to, all of them are very good at there job. I’m recommending to go there if your reading this it’s a no brainer they are the best in the business.

Fantastic experience: My Grandson had been given lessons by various members of his family and he was doing really well. We suggested he have a couple of lessons from excellence driving academy which he was eager to do. They were all very good and he only needed three lessons before he was ready to go for his restricted which he went for and got first time. Would recommend the excellence driving academy to give your person the opportunity to be the best.

Fantastic experience: Every practical lesson felt so much more effective than the AA sessions - they took me on the exact roads of the test and made sure I had everything sorted in time for my test. I personally don’t think the simulator lessons were as productive for me as I was already familiar with and had been driving for a while on the roads, however I definitely see that it’s a great feature and very helpful for total beginner learners. Passed first try with 6 total lessons, would definitely recommend!!

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend these guys enough! my son did both simulator and on road driver training and it has done him wonders, he was nervous and suffers from anxiety however, all the instructors made him feel at ease and got him driving safely on the road. It's great knowing that he's been trained by the best and has all the skills and knowledge he needs to be safe. He now has his restricted and a lot more confidence. Such a lovely bunch of people too.

Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic experience getting my restricted licence with Excellence Driving Academy. Tony, Wendy and Christina were supportive and accommodating throughout the whole process. During the initial simulator sessions, they offered to pick me up from uni and drop me off at home when I didn’t have my own means of transport, which was very helpful. I was a really nervous driver when I first started (after 30 hours on the road) and the simulator sessions helped me gain confidence in my driving by allowing me to practise in a low stakes environment. Tony/Wendy/Christina guided me through the simulator sessions and talked through the key points. During that time, I effectively learnt to use and trust my peripheral vision, which lowered my anxiety and dramatically improved my steering on the road. The on-road session was fun and focused: Tony/Christina noticed my weak points and focused on them individually, which was extremely helpful and seeing the progress significantly boosted my confidence. The open road lesson with Tony really helped me understand how to navigate 100k zones safely and confidently in my manual vehicle. I overall highly recommend Excellence Driving Academy, couldn't be happier with the whole experience!

Fantastic experience: Had trouble passing my full license test before and had heard great things about Excellence, decided to try it out, both the driving instructors Christina and Tony are very paitient which helps when you're nervous. They helped me reinforce positive driving techniques that I had trouble doing before hand into my driving not only to pass my test but to make me a better and safer driver. I recently passed my license with what the tester said was an easy pass, can not feel more relieved.

Negative experience: This company does not take them out to practice real life driving until 6 or so lessons in - such a waste of money. Go to AA and get better results in fewer lessons. . Thanks for your long response - we realise you did your best but it certainly was not effective - he needed to practice actually driving in town.

Fantastic experience: I want to start off by saying that I came into this driving course with a feeling of contempt for driving, didn't see the point of it, had bad experiences with instructors in Ireland so I felt very discouraged. Negative experience: Upon this company querying a re book with my teenage relative, and the re book being turned down. This company became very unprofessional and quite harrasive toward multiple family members who the company reached out to once a rebook was turned down with the teenage relative. This made the relative feel very belittled as the messages were very rude. Will not be recommending your services to anyone

Positive experience: I had an amazing experience at Excellence Driving Academy. I started off as a student who was not confident at driving. But going in the Simulator and doing road lesson after that increased my confidence. Which lead me to passing my restricted.

They were able to fit in some lessons at short notice and even picked him up in town to take him to a lesson. He passed his restricted test the first time, so I think that says a lot about the high quality of their teaching. Wendy and her team were very professional with calm and friendly methods of teaching. Would definitely recommend this driving school.

I got in contact with the exellence driving academy and they made sure that I had three lessons in that short period of time. I’m really happy with the results as I passed my restricted test on my first try because of the valuable learning I got from these guys. I first made contact with the team at Excellence due to struggling with confidence and anxiety related to driving after several factors resulted in a long-term hiatus from driving. I had contacted other organisations but did not feel that they were able to provide what I needed, however upon speaking with Wendy at Excellence for the first time I immediately felt more at ease about my situation and the pathway to achieving my goals. Practising on the simulator before getting back on-road was integral to helping work through my driving related issues. The team at Excellence are very supportive, and as a client you feel that they are invested in you not as a business transaction but as a whole person. Tony and Christina are fantastic at giving clear instruction and guidance on-road, pairing gentle encouragement with a firm push when needed and sessions are adapted to ones specific needs. Wendy is a scheduling and communication wizard making organising sessions and payment easy (she also booked my drivers test on my behalf). Pick ups and drop offs are available for lessons as well as the test, and their vehicles can be used to complete testing in (very handy!). They can also attend as a support person during testing, which was fantastic as Christina has a very calm soothing nature that helped quell my test-day nervousness. The services provided by Excellence Driving Academy are second to none, very reasonably priced, and great value. Absolutely highly recommend!!!

Fantastic experience: When my son, needed to be taught to drive we looked up local driving schools, and came across Excellence Driving Academy. After looking through their website we made the decision to go with them. Right from the start the service from Wendy & Tony was excellent, they started off with a few lessons in their simulator which was great and gave our son the confidence to then get behind the wheel of a car. Once in the car the lessons were planned in such a way that I could take him driving in between giving him further exposure to driving, and I was constantly kept informed of anything we needed to work on. We were also able to use the car my son had, so that when he did the test he used the car he had been doing almost all of his lessons in. It is testimony to their professionalism that they were able to change appointments at short notice due to COVID, or my son being called into work, but especially as my son passed his restricted licence test first time, which is almost unheard of in Palmerston North. Thanks guys and will definitely be calling upon them prior to the full licence test to give my son a few more lessons. Definitely recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I did lessons with both Tony and Wendy, and appreciated the difference in their teaching styles, and what I could learn from each of them. They took me through everything I needed to pass my restricted test, but also other important skills to be a safe and confident driver. I also found the simulator really helpful for the less common situations. Passed my restricted first time!

Fantastic experience: Unable to get a test slot in Wellington my son opted to sit his Full in Palmy. This was a new area to him and all very last minute. Wendy was quick to respond to my plea for a lesson (needed in the next couple of days) and organised Tony to take him over the course for a Full. Tony was thorough and covered both potential courses pointing out every possible scenario and critiquing my son's driving (mirror checks etc) but all in a relaxed and fun way. I would highly recommend Excellence driving if getting your licence is the plan! Good luck out there everyone - it's not easy!!!!!!

We really appreciate Wendy picking up our son from school and taking the time to take him over to Feilding. Fantastic experience: The best and most qualified two instructors in the whole Palmerston North are Wendy and Tony!!! From day one the experience with them was amazingly refreshing, starting with the simulator what they own , it was something I never tried it before but now I highly recommend it to anyone. (It can be set up to any weather condition, speed, time of the day and difficulty)The best thing what you can try, also it will give you so much confidence on the road as you already “experienced” certain hard situation on screen and it is built into your memory by the time you get behind the wheel of a real car. (my fear was crashing the car, with the simulator I managed to get over on it however it was an eye-opener when we assessed reaction time and break lengths, you would be shocked too like I was) I know they are very proud of their simulator and they want to show to everyone but I would like to say, THANK YOU to them humans. I met with two special people. Both teach in different ways but they are excellent to find ways to instruct you even if you struggle to remember or if it isn't your first language or you are a nervous wreck like I was at the beginning. They are also the kindest people I ever met and by the end, I believe we became friends. I'm thankful for all the patience, care and advice that I got from them without it I would not make it. Tony sat me in the simulator and from day one analysed how I was as a person and made driving feel easy. Both Wendy and Tony are very professional and manage their time very well and have set up a great booking system. The other day I sat my restricted and passed and excellence driving helped me gain the confidence to go out and do that. Would highly recommend to anyone starting to drive, or even those who want to gain more confidence with driving and learn helpful tricks that will make you a lot safer on the roads.

Fantastic experience: December 9th 2020 will be fondly remembered! Since then, the doubts about my ability to drive have completely gone. Tony and Wendy are a champion duo whose knowledge and professionalism were invaluable. And now I’m about to undergo the Defensive Driving Course which will cut the waiting time in half. Fantastic experience: I had failed my restricted test twice in the past and was a really nervous, unsure driver. After having lessons from both Wendy and Tony I finally managed to pass my test last week. Thank you both so much for being so kind and supportive and making me a much more confident driver :)

Fantastic experience: At first, I found driving to be terrifying and stressful. I did not want to drive out of the road straight away. After doing my research and searching for a suitable driving school for me, I have come across Excellence Driving's website. What caught my attention is their combination of simulator and road training. Most pilots train or learn to fly planes using a flight simulator. I think that a driving simulator is great tool to use as it provides a more comfortable setting and lets you experience different unique situations. It also help alleviate my stress while learning in the process. Tony, who is simply the best driving instructor I could ever ask for, not only showed me the how to's but he also explained the why's. Then I had the road training and was surprised how much I was able to improve in a short period of time. Under Tony’s calm personalized one-on-one instruction and support, I received the best training and finally reached that milestone today. I just passed my driving test on the first try and I owe my success to Excellence Driving. 100% highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Toni my driving instructor was superb. He was very professional and friendly and taught me everything I needed to pass my full licence exam. My nerves almost got in to me prior to the test, but his assurance and supportive words were enough to keep me going. Communication was also easy and prompt when I booked with them.
