Fantastic experience: I was very nervous to do my full license test and procrastinated for a few years after hearing horror stories about how people fail about 3 times before passing this test. I had a mock test with Cody and he pointed out not only the mistakes that would make me fail but also told me insights about what examiners pay most attention to, things I had no idea and that were not covered in any of my driving lessons. After the lesson I felt much more confident to do my full test and I passed it in the first try. Also, Cody was very punctual and professional. He has a relaxed and friendly attitude which really helps to feel safe and comfortable to learn and improve. Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a warm approachable driving instructor with a great sense of humor and expert driving advice I would highly recommend Thomas Driving School. Cody is simply the best driving instructor I've had the pleasure to learn by. I have tried a few other instructors on the shore and found them intimidating and would stress me out. I have ADHD and am a visual learner so I find verbal teaching difficult to comprehend. Cody adjusted my lessons and if necessary, drove himself visually teaching me. We bonded well over similar hobbies and he took the time to get to know me. He also emailed me hand drawn (truly talented artist with circle cars ;) ) feedback and kept track of each lesson and my personal progress. I got my restricted license yesterday!

Fantastic experience: I was in the process to convert my overseas license to NZ Full license but unfortunately failed my test twice. As I know to drive, however was not aware of all rules and regulations that one should follow while driving in NZ and was finding it very difficult. My sister recommended Cody and adviced to take few lessons with Cody as she did cleared her test with Cody's guidance. (FYI, Cody has been a Testing Officer too, so he know exactly what you should follow to clear your test and teach you accordingly) I took only 2 lessons from Cody and he very thoroughly explained me all road signs, rules, technical queries etc which helped me to pass my test. Hence, I would highly recommend Cody to anyone who wants to apply for a New/Restricted/Full driver license in New Zealand or if you are trying to convert your overseas license.

Fantastic experience: I've been on my restricted for 10 years but I haven't been driving consistently as my husband normally drives us around. I felt sorry for Cody after our first session as I was all over the place! He was exceptionally patient and calm throughout the session. When we pulled over to debrief, he clearly explained all the areas that I need to work on and emailed the notes to me afterwards. I took his advice on reviewing the notes before going out for practice every time and it worked! My second session was a lot smoother and I walked away with a couple of other work-ons. I must mention that I had a couple of questions between sessions, Cody came back to me promptly that enabled me to continue my own practice with confidence knowing what I should be doing. I passed my full license first time - couldn't have done it without Cody's support and guidance. I'd highly recommend Cody and Thomas Driving School if you wish to learn from the best!

Fantastic experience: After 11 driving lessons + Mock test with A1 driving school, I decided to switch to Thomas Driving School where they can help me prepare for the Restricted driving test. The driving instructor, Kannan, provides every-single feedbacks whether I make an error during my mock restricted test and this helps me fix up my mistakes as a driver. I highly recommend them since they all used to be former VTNZ testing officers.

I passed my practical full driver's license in one go after taking a 2hour refresher class with them. Fantastic experience: Kannan was a patient, kind instructor who put me at ease. This was my first time driving on the left side of the road. He gave precise, clear instructions & lots of practice with the areas I needed to learn (round-abouts, signaling, lane positioning, turns, etc.) I would definitely recommend Kannan and Thomas Driving School to anyone learning to drive on the left. It was a safe way to get used to driving very differently.

Fantastic experience: I would recommend Thomas driving school to anyone who's looking for a well knowledged, patient, critical feedback driving coach. For those who don't know me, I'm a Mum of two children, who had a strong fear of driving on the road and had very low confidence especially on gap selection during driving. I would even recommend Cody to a beginner learner. He is patient, very well communicated, and always gives you well structured feedback to make sure you understand everything. And of course, he will always make sure you are safe to do what you need to do.

Fantastic experience: We used Thomas driving school to refine our 16 yr old sons driving skills prior to sitting his restricted. He had plenty of driving experience in the country, but having moved to Auckland we really wanted to get him some professional lessons and a mock test. They were fantastic to deal with, there were no spaces available online so I called, and they fitted us in fairly fast, after the first lesson they suggested just one more, then the mock test, so actually saved us money as we thought there would be more lessons required. Our son passed his test with flying colours, was told he was one of the best drivers for his age they had tested, and commended him on a few things that he would not have done had he not been made aware of them by his instructor. We look forward to using your services again for a defensive driving course soon.

Fantastic experience: Cody is very helpful in teaching me to pass the license test. He is knowledgeable about road code. When asking about the wrong answers in road code lessons, he will explain the reasons behind it, so that I know why it’s regulated this way and much better understand and follow them when driving. He is also very effective in driving sessions. He observes what my current driving patterns are and reminds me patiently again and again over those areas of improvement until a good habit is building up. Very grateful for his work and strongly recommend his class!

I always felt a little timid and unconfident before coming to him, but his amazing teaching style and knowledge of all things driving made my experience to passing my restricted today come so naturally. He has been a testing officer so he knows all the little technical things that you get marked on during the test, and it's great to be able to ask ANY question and he can answer it perfectly! Fantastic experience: Cody, Raj, and Kannan are a fantastic team who have made learning to drive into something that's enjoyable rather than stressful. I'm both anxious and autistic and I never once felt unsafe or uncomfortable during our lessons. The lessons are worth it alone for Cody's stories and he also knows where the dogs are along the test routes for some doggy sight seeing. I passed my restricted first try thanks to Cody, and his endless patience in explaining how roundabouts work almost every single lesson! Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Okay! Where do I even start from Cody is an amazing instructor. I’ve always been so scared of driving but just in my first lesson he showed so much trust in me and took me straight on the main roads which I hadn’t attempted to in like 3-4 years of trying to learn to drive (I had been stuck driving in car parks or during the night time with no traffic) And that was a big boost to my confidence. He has been a testing officer himself because of which he brings a wealth of knowledge that is very helpful around the technical things that you get marked on during the actual test. And trust me I did not experience this with the numerous driving instructors that I had tried in the past. He’s a young lad who is very patient and mature. He is really invested in his students, has great communication skills and explains everything so well that every $$ is worth spent plus you get all the notes from your lesson emailed to you the same day. He is very approachable and you can ask the most silly questions and not be judged. I highly recommend taking a lesson with him or his team before the actual test so you can get feedback on the little things that can make a big difference. He has a great team who are all professionals and experienced in their job. I wish Cody and his team all the best and keep up the good work guys

With both instructors being ex testing officers, their knowledge on the restricted test contents and common mistakes they had personally witnessed, really eased the test day pressure! What really makes this company stand out is the clear empathy the instructors demonstrate- you can tell they truely care! When I was struggling to grasp a concept, Kannan extending my lesson time 30 minutes free of charge to ensure I understood before my test. He even allowed me to send him any questions I had via text message and he would answer asap! I would highly recommend Thomas Driving school- I never would have passed my restricted test first time without them!!

Fantastic experience: I bought the 2h restricted mock test and did the session with Cody. He has a lot of experience as an examiner, as well as experience as an instructor now. He was my first ever coach, and the session was a week away from my test. I can confidently say I managed to pass my restricted test thanks to that one session with Cody. He pointed out so many errors I made that if I had not known about those errors, I would’ve failed stage 1 of the test. I could even see the examiner checking for those errors during my test. I’m sure there are other good instructors out there, but I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor than Cody. Fantastic experience: After failing my full test a few times I went to have a brush-up lesson with Cody around the Glenfield testing route. He remained friendly and calm throughout, and made the lesson feel relaxing and enjoyable with some casual chatter in-between. He gave in-depth feedback about the little details that testing officers look for that often result in errors (showing his expertise from being an ex-testing officer), as well as an effective way to do the hazards part of the test. His lesson was definitely a great confidence boost and I passed the next test I booked with flying colours. I would definitely recommend his lessons for anyone about to sit their restricted or full in the North Shore area.
